All specifications apply to factory or stock style bolts with a light coat of oil on the threads unless otherwise noted. If ARP or other aftermarket bolts are used, follow the manufacturers specifications and recommended lubrication for the threads.
Main Cap Bolts (Torque in 3 equal steps ie. 25-50-75 ft-lbs)
7/16 (2 bolt) 70 ft-lbs
7/16 (inner 4 bolt main) 70 ft-lbs
7/16 (outer 4 bolt main) 65 ft-lbs
3/8 (outer 4 bolt main) 40 ft-lbs
Connecting Rod Bolts
3/8 40-45 ft-lbs
11/32 38-44 ft-lbs
Cylinder Head Bolts
Torque in sequence with 3 equal steps 65 ft-lbs (Use thread sealant such as Permatex part no. 59235 on bolts that thread into water jackets)
Thread in Rocker Studs 50 ft-lbs
Oil pump 65 ft-lbs
Cam Sprocket 20 ft-lbs (Use blue thread locker such as Loctite 243 on threads)
Intake Manifold 30 ft-lbs (Cast Iron Heads)
Exhaust Manifold 25 ft-lbs (Anti seize on threads is strongly recommended to help prevent studs from breaking off if future removal is necessary)
Flexplate and Flywheel 60 ft-lbs (Use blue thread locker such as Loctite 243 on threads)
Clutch Pressure Plate 35 ft-lbs (Unless otherwise noted by manufacturer of clutch. Use blue thread locker)
Front Crankshaft Bolt 60 ft-lbs (Not the specification for bolts holding the crankshaft pulley to harmonic damper)
Transmission Bolts to Block 25 ft-lbs
